LeanData vs Q-assign

In large and fast-growing Enterprises, your lead assignment solution is business-critical. You need a scalable system that can handle high-volumes and real-world complexity with aplomb. Here we compare the two stand-out players for Enterprise-level lead routing in Salesforce

Choosing the right lead routing solution for Salesforce is not just important – it’s critical. Here, we pit the two heavyweight AppExchange contenders, head-to-head. Yes, we’re well aware that we’re the architects behind Q-assign! But let’s be clear: the goal here is not to sell you on our product, but to offer a thorough, feature-by-feature breakdown, that will empower you to make the best choice for your Salesforce ecosystem.

To be clear, this article compares LeanData’s Premium offering with Q-assign’s standard offering (which happens to be “Premium” from the get-go). Read on to discover how these two lead assignment giants stack up.

Comparing LeanData and Q-assign

Pricing: Q-assign takes an early lead

  • LeanData: $59 per user/month
  • Q-assign by Ortoo: $54 per user/month

At first glance, Q-assign offers a more cost-effective enterprise solution. Q-assign includes Enterprise-level support in their price, but the published LeanData pricing makes no mention of support levels. So, Q-assign has the edge here – and it might be more than an edge (note that Ortoo also offers volume-based discounts to Enterprise-level customers).  Let’s dive deeper into what each platform offers.

Enterprise Features: Q-assign edges further ahead

Q-assign comes out on top with an impressive array of enterprise features, many of which are either unavailable or require additional investment in LeanData Premium. These include:

  • Segmented Business Units (running multiple versions of the app across different teams)
  • Plug-in (dynamic) Actions
  • AI-driven record enrichment
  • Sentiment and predictive analysis
  • Full-fledged Territory Management
  • Flow-free configuration

AI Integration: Q-assign storms ahead

Ortoo has gone all-in on the runaway AI-driven bandwagon.  It was one of only a handful of ISVs to be selected by Salesforce to showcase their latest AI capabilities at Dreamforce 2023. The key areas where AI is adding a huge amount of value are pre-processing and post-assignment,  In the pre-processing stage, leads can be triaged, classified, enriched and prioritized – all with the assistance of call-outs to AI models. And post-assignment, Q-assign can call upon AI to decide what action to do next, and even to do that chosen action, automatically. By contrast, as of October 2023, there’s no mention of AI on LeanData’s AppExchange listing.

Matching and Routing: A closer contest

LeanData and Q-assign both offer a comprehensive set of matching and routing features. In the past, LeanData has prided itself on its matching capabilities. But Q-assign’s plug-in actions, which can now harness the power of AI models, have given it a huge boost. In terms of routing, Q-assign may well have the edge with its attribute-based, workload-based, and availability-based routing capabilities, providing a more dynamic and flexible approach. We’ll call this a tie – but keep a close eye on Q-assign.

Data Management: More good news for Q-assign

From real-time to batch processing and prioritizing records, both platforms offer robust data management features suitable for enterprise needs. But Q-assign’s new Plug-in Actions could be a game-changer. These “dynamic” actions can be deployed in the pre-processing stage, where leads. can be enriched, triaged, classified and prioritized. Or, alternatively, in the post-assignment stage, where calls to AI models can help determine the next best course of action – and even execute it via an automation.

Alerts and Notifications: Q-assign is easier to set up

Both platforms are equipped to send out admin and user alerts via email, Slack or Teams, ensuring a responsive system that keeps all stakeholders informed. But Q-assign does this without requiring any flows, so, in our opinion, it’s much easier for managers and or Sales Ops teams to set up and manage. Also, look out for Q-assign’s additional multi-channel features that are rolling out through Q4 (2023) and Q1 (2024). Expect to see Salesforce-native support for Whatsapp and, potentially, other channels.

Reporting: A tie

Whether it’s auditing, troubleshooting, or tracking Service Level Agreements (SLAs), both platforms come equipped with robust reporting tools.

Integrations: Both are robust

LeanData and Q-assign both offer extensive third-party integrations, including APIs and communication channels. LeanData prides itself on out-of-the box offerings with strategic alliance partners, the likes of Outreach, SalesLoft and Clearbit. Q-assign takes a customised approach, integrating with 3rd party apps on a case-by-case basis, according to each customers’ specific use case.

Multi Object Management: Q-assign is the clear leader

Both platforms claim to support multiple objects. But look a little closer and Q-assign is the clear winner here. LeanData’s whole raison d’etre is Revenue Ops. So they are very very focused on Sales. When it comes to routing, that means Leads and Opportunities. If you look at the case studies they’ve done, it’s sales, sales, sales. So, although they call out support for other objects in their feature matrix, it’s not a core capability. Q-assign, on the other hand, has been deployed to many different objects across hundreds of companies. They are a stand-out provider of Lead Assignment solutions (as we are seeing here) but they are also #1 when it comes to Case Assignment and even custom objects. Indeed, Salesforce themselves are rumoured to have deployed Q-assign to assign work orders to service engineers in San Francisco (No comment!). A win for Q-assign.

Ease of Configuration: A decisive factor (Q-assign wins, hands-down)

Q-assign: Empowering Sales Managers – Q-assign stands out for its user-friendly, point-and-click configuration. This feature puts sales managers in control, enabling them to manage and fine-tune their lead assignment systems without depending on IT. This empowerment aligns perfectly with the needs of modern, agile sales teams, who require the ability to make quick, real-time adjustments based on dynamic factors like sales trends and team performance.

LeanData: Complexity and IT Dependency – Contrastingly, LeanData, while rich in features, has a reputation for complexity. Its setup often involves intricate flows and back-end configurations, generally requiring IT involvement. This complexity can create bottlenecks, particularly in agile sales environments where quick decision-making is key. Sales managers may find themselves less empowered to make real-time adjustments, leading to a dependency on IT for even minor changes.

Implications for Businesses

If your organization prioritizes agility and real-time decision-making, the ease of configuration could be a critical deciding factor. Systems that require IT intervention for every minor adjustment can slow down sales processes and reduce overall agility. In such scenarios, a solution like Q-assign that empowers sales managers can offer a significant competitive advantage. Top of Form

Support Level: Q-assign stands out

While LeanData’s support level is unspecified, Q-assign provides Enterprise-level support, adding another feather to its cap. And if you read through Q-assign’s 5-star reviews on the AppExchange, you’ll see that the level of support offered by its service team is simply off-the-scale. One happy customer went as far as saying “It’s the best software vendor I have ever worked with”. Enough said.

Free Trial? It’s a YES from Q-assign

Surprisingly, LeanData do not seem to offer a free trial of any kind. There’s certainly no mention of it on their website and the G2 Crowd website appears to confirm it. But does Ortoo offer a free trial of Q-assign? Silly question – of course it does! Ortoo is so convinced our apps will transform your business that we offer a free trial, with no strings attached. That’s a FREE 30-day trial, the full working product, with all features enabled and 50 free licenses.

This free trial is a fully managed Proof of Concept (POC). We’ll host a discovery workshop with all key stakeholders (free of charge) and will discuss and collate your business requirements. We’ll help you install the app, and then we’ll configure it to your needs or, if you prefer, train your own team (Salesforce admins or delegated admins) to configure it.  If, after 30 days, the value and ROI is not proven, we’ll extend the trial. If you are still not convinced then you can walk away, with nothing to pay. To be clear, our pre-sales consultancy services are completely free of charge.

Conclusion: Q-assign by Ortoo shines brighter

While both LeanData and Q-assign by Ortoo offer robust sets of features, Q-assign takes the lead in versatility and comprehensiveness, especially when it comes to enterprise features and advanced routing options. Moreover, it does so at a lower cost, making it a compelling choice for organizations looking to optimize their Salesforce experience and drive value for money.
